All my runs show as missed
Your foil probably rides slower than the default threshold. By default, a run counts as landed after about 10 km/h for 3 seconds and 15 metres. Big, low-aspect wings often ride slower than that. In the iPhone app, go to Settings → What counts as a run and lower On-foil speed, or choose the Flat-water pump preset.
My watch keeps saying “Finding GPS”
GPS needs a clear view of the sky. Buildings, roofs and trees all make it worse. Open Pumpline a minute before you get on the water and wait until the start screen shows GPS ready. The screen shows the current accuracy, and Pumpline waits for better than 30 metres. On open water this usually only takes a few seconds.
The location prompt appears every time I open the app
This happens if you chose Allow Once. Choose While Using the App instead. To change it later, on your watch go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Pumpline.
Pumpline isn’t on my Apple Watch
The watch app installs together with the iPhone app. If it doesn’t appear, open the Watch app on your iPhone, scroll to Available Apps and tap Install next to Pumpline. To install apps automatically in future, turn on Automatic App Install in the Watch app under General.
The watch screen stopped responding to touch during a session
That’s Water Lock. Pumpline turns it on when a session starts so splashes can’t press buttons. To unlock, press and hold the Digital Crown. If you don’t want it, turn off Water lock on the start screen before you begin.
Walking the board along the dock logs misses
This should no longer happen: movement too slow to have been a push off the dock is not recorded at all. The default bar is 7.6 km/h at the fastest moment of the attempt, well above walking with a board under your arm. If you walk quickly and still see it, raise Minimum attempt speed under Settings → What counts as a run.
Every session has the same spot name
Pumpline names a session after where it started, by matching it against the places you have already named yourself. Nothing is looked up online: your coordinates never leave your watch. So a new spot stays unnamed the first time — name that session once on the iPhone and every later session there takes the name automatically. You can also pick the spot on the watch before you push off.
A try didn’t register because I fell straight in
If you didn’t move far enough for GPS to notice, swipe to the controls on your watch and tap Log a miss. It still counts in your success rate.
How do I back up my sessions?
Turn on iCloud sync to keep your sessions on all your devices and keep them if you get a new phone. You can also save a copy at any time in Settings → Export all data.
